McDermott Advises Intersnack on Outsourcing of its IT Infrastructure

Overview

McDermott Will & Emery advised longstanding client and leader in savory snacks, Intersnack Group, on outsourcing their IT infrastructure and negotiated agreements with their two chosen service providers, GTT (previously Interoute) and Getronics.

The project was tendered in several separate lots. GTT was selected to provide the wide area network (WAN), the telecommunications link for all Intersnack sites worldwide. Getronics will provide the global IT infrastructure as “end-to-end” service, including Service Integration & Management (SIAM), end-user computing services, network hardware and software, security and service desk. The contract has been concluded for a term of seven years and covers 20 European countries plus India, Vietnam and Singapore. The move to centralize Intersnack’s IT operations will achieve greater scalability and agility of the IT systems to support global growth plans.

With around 9,000 employees, a production volume of more than 500,000 tons and annual sales of €2.7 billion, the Intersnack Group is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of salty snacks, including brands such as Hula Hoops, funny-frisch, Chio, McCoys, POM-BÄR, KP Nüsse, Estrella, Vico and ültje. Intersnack’s head office is located in Düsseldorf. Twelve subsidiaries throughout Europe run the operative business in their respective regions.

Getronics is a global service provider for information and communication technology owned by Bottega InvestCo S.à r.l.. With nearly 9,000 employees in 23 countries worldwide, Getronics offers solutions in the areas of managed workspace, applications, industry specific software solutions, multi-cloud management, unified communications and security services. Getronics is a member of the Global Workspace Alliance, which provides unified IT services to customers in 185 countries.

The deal team advising Intersnack Group was led by Dr Ralf Weisser and included Dr Claus Färber and Franziska Leubner. Intersnack is a long-standing client of Dr Norbert Schulte, who heads McDermott’s German practice.
