McDermott Advises Voodoo on $200 Million Financing from Goldman Sachs

PARIS (May 30 2018) – McDermott Will & Emery advised the majority shareholders of Voodoo, leading creator of mobile games, on the acquisition of a stake in its capital by Goldman Sachs. The American bank invested $200 million through its West Street Capital Partners VII fund, becoming the chief shareholder alongside the two founders, who remain majority investors.
The Paris-based start-up, established in 2013, develops, edits and distributes mass-market games in partnership with more than 400 studios worldwide exclusively on App Store and Google Play. The company, notably responsible for such games as Paper.io, Dune! and Snake vs Bloc, is hoping to reach a billion downloads this year, following on from 300 million last year.
McDermott Will & Emery advised the majority shareholders in Voodoo. The team included Grégoire Andrieux and Julie Seroka, Herschel Guez, Chloé Huertas and Claire Barra on corporate aspects, Jilali Maazouz and Ludovic Bergès on employment law aspects and Lionel Lesur on competition law aspects.
