CHICAGO—McDermott Will & Emery LLP has been recognized by Working Mother magazine as one of the “Best Law Firms for Women.” The list honors firms that develop and implement best practices and progressive policies to retain and promote women lawyers. This is the fifth consecutive year that McDermott has been included.

“The law firms that make Working Mother‘s list are remarkable for their long-term commitment to retaining and promoting women lawyers,” said Meredith Bodgas, editor-in-chief of Working Mother. “One hundred percent of these firms provide flexible work arrangements and 57 percent of them offer sponsorship programs for high-potential women lawyers. That’s resulted in a jump in the number of women equity partners to 21 percent.”
McDermott is dedicated to implementing comprehensive policies and programming to enable the firm to recruit, retain and promote women lawyers. These efforts have been consistently recognized, most recently resulting in the firm being named a top-10 female and family friendly law firm by Yale Law Women. The firm was also listed among the top 10 “Best Law Firms for Women” in Law360’s 2017 Glass Ceiling Report.
“From our Women Partners’ Summit to our coaching programs, we are always looking for new ways to engage and support women across the firm,” said Jennifer Mikulina, chair of McDermott’s Gender Diversity Subcommittee. “We have an active committee of women and men who are dedicated to our goals through working groups focused on achieving gender parity to developing meaningful internal programs and building connections among women throughout the firm.”
The 60 law firms on Working Mother’s 2018 “Best Law Firms for Women” were required to answer more than 300 questions pertaining to schedule flexibility, paid time off, parental leaves and development and retention of women. The full list is available here.
