McDermott Announces New Members for the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Fellows and Pathfinders Programs

Overview

International law firm McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce the selection of new leaders to participate in the 2024 Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) programs: Partner Tala Jayadevan as an LCLD Fellow and Associates Richard Tsay and Nick Greiner as LCLD Pathfinders.

“The LCLD Fellows and Pathfinder programs are a wonderful opportunity for lawyers like Tala, Richard and Nick to further advance their professional leadership skills,” said Anthony (Tony) Upshaw, McDermott’s Global Head of Diversity & Inclusion. “We are committed to furthering diversity, equity and inclusion in the legal industry and that’s why we continue to participate in the LCLD program year after year.”

Tala is the Hiring Partner for McDermott’s Los Angeles office, where she focuses her practice on complex civil litigation and white-collar criminal defense. Tala has represented clients through all stages of litigation, including a number of jury trials and arbitrations. She also participates in the Diversity & Inclusion and Pro Bono & Community Service Committees. She was named to The Best Lawyers in America, Ones to Watch, Commercial Litigation, 2022 to 2024.

Based in Chicago, Richard is a transactions lawyer who represents private equity funds, public and private companies and family offices in mergers and acquisitions, investments and a broad range of general corporate and governance matters. While in law school, he served at the University of Chicago Law School’s Innovation Clinic, helping startups with various corporate law issues, and as a venture associate at The University of Chicago’s George Shultz Innovation Fund, performing due diligence and evaluating life sciences startups.

Also based in Chicago, Nick focuses his practice on transactional and corporate matters. While in law school, he served as a law clerk for the University of Chicago Housing Initiative Transactional Clinic and volunteered with the International Refugee Assistance Project.

The Leadership Council on Legal Diversity is made up of more than 400 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners —the leadership of the profession—who have pledged themselves to creating a truly diverse US legal profession. The LCLD Fellows Program aims to identify, train and advance the next generation of leaders in the legal professional by connecting high-potential, diverse attorneys in a year-long program devoted to relationship-building, in-person training and peer-group projects. The Pathfinder Program connects high-potential, early-career diverse attorneys from LCLD Member organizations for a professional development program focused on foundational leadership and relationship-building, offering promising diverse associates an opportunity to set themselves up for success.
