McDermott Continues Expansion of International Private Client Group

Overview

LONDON (October 8, 2014) — International law firm McDermott Will & Emery today announced that Nicholas Holland has joined as a partner in its international Private Client Practice Group, based in the Firm’s London office.

Nick’s practice focuses on advising institutional trustees and private clients in connection with trusts and estates particularly involving multi-jurisdictional and offshore disputes.

Carol Harrington, head of McDermott’s international Private Client Practice Group comments: “From the outset, our strategy for London has been to create a full-service team with critical mass in this key local market, building from the extraordinary depth and strength of our teams in the U.S. Nick’s experience with contentious trusts and estates augments the arrival of Ziva Robertson late last year and we are delighted to add Nick to our team. The speed of growth here of our London private client practice since its inception in 2009 has been remarkable and it reflects the growing reality that wealthy families and individuals must increasingly deal with cross-border issues and look to teams who can provide them with holistic services wherever they are located.”

Nick was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor in British Columbia in 1997, in Ontario in 2001, as an Attorney at Law in the Cayman Islands in 2008, and as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2010. He joins McDermott from Bircham Dyson Bell LLP where he was the Head of Contentious Trusts and Estates. Nick is recognised as a leading lawyer in both Chambers and Legal 500.

“It is with great pleasure that we welcome Nick to the team here in London. The growth of the London international Private Client team has been significant, trebling headcount since the group’s inception and giving us greater ability to serve our clients wherever they may be located” added Hugh Nineham, Partner and Head of McDermott’s London office.

McDermott is widely recognised as a leading firm for High Net Worth individuals, families and closely held businesses for all significant facets of wealth planning around the globe. Chambers USA has ranked McDermott’s private client practice in the top tier in wealth management every year since Chambers USA has been published.
