McDermott Deepens Miami Health Care Bench to Help Clients More Efficiently Navigate Growing Transactional and Regulatory Complexities

Overview

McDermott Will & Emery announced that Adam J. Rogers has rejoined the Firm as a Miami-based partner in the Health Industry Advisory practice. Adam’s return adds a leading health transactions and regulatory thought leader, and is part of the Firm’s commitment to helping private equity clients identify the right partners and deal structures needed to succeed in the evolving health care landscape.

Adam will leverage his extensive experience with complex health care mergers and acquisitions and transactional issues, counseling private equity funds, investors, entrepreneurs and other organizations when identifying potential partners and structuring collaborations. His background will also enable him to take a strategic approach on compliance matters, working closely with clients to proactively mitigate risk during target evaluation, as well as when documenting joint venture, professional services and management service organization arrangements.

“Adam’s return not only strengthens our Miami health care capabilities, it augments our deep, nation-wide team of health care practitioners,” explained Eric Zimmerman, partner and International Head of McDermott’s Health Industry Advisory Group. “His national transactional experience – which encompasses nearly every facet of the health care services and information technology sectors – will be a particular complement to our already highly-regarded private equity advisory capabilities, enhancing our ability to provide top-notch counsel to our clients both in Miami and around the globe.”

Adam also regularly advises organizations on a variety of health care regulatory matters. These include licensing, enrollment and certification, fraud and abuse, Medicare program compliance requirements, corporate practice restrictions, group purchasing organizations, EMTALA, the 340B program, and health reform.

“We couldn’t be happier to welcome Adam back into the McDermott family,” said Jerry Sokol, Managing Partner of McDermott’s Miami office. “Not only does his return add breadth and depth in Miami as we continue to strategically grow McDermott’s already outstanding health care team, it speaks volumes about our dynamic and extremely collaborative culture. And with Adam’s significant experience in health care and private equity – areas where the Firm has a recognized strength – we will be even better positioned to provide clients with the unparalleled support and quality counsel they both expect and deserve.”

“McDermott’s Health Care practice has an exceptional record of advising the industry’s most respected, dynamic and important organizations on many truly transformative legal matters,” said Adam. “I’m thrilled to be returning to such a collaborative culture, and to have the opportunity to again work with an outstanding team to help clients fuel their missions, knock down barriers, shape markets, and achieve their business goals.”

Previously with other larger international law firms, Adam received his JD from the Duke University School of Law, where he graduated cum laude and was the senior editor for the Journal of Law and Contemporary Problems. Prior to becoming a lawyer, he practiced as a licensed physical therapist.

McDermott Will & Emery is the nation’s leading health care law firm. The Health Industry Advisory group is the only health practice to receive top national rankings from U.S. News – Best Lawyers “Best Law Firms,” Chambers USA, The Legal 500 US, and Law360. The practice was also recognized by Chambers as “Health Team of the Year” in 2010, 2013 and 2017. McDermott has held the top spot in PitchBook’s League Tables as the most active firm for health care private equity since 2017.
