McDermott Employment Leader Recognized for Contributions to Improving Legal Representation and Dispute Resolution in Employment Matters

Overview

McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce that Michael Sheehan, global head of the Firm’s Employment Practice Group, has been selected to the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers.

Embracing the College’s Principles of Civility and Professionalism for Advocates, Mike has made a sustained contribution to the employment law field and gained the respect of colleagues, clients, judges and opposing counsel. He is recognized for his commitment to fighting on behalf of his clients in the courtroom and navigating tough negotiations on a range of employment issues.

“I’m honored to join such an esteemed group of individuals who care deeply about integrity, leadership, character and developing in the profession,” said Mike. “These qualities are sine qua non to success – whether that is in mentoring younger lawyers, building a cohesive practice group or helping clients navigate complex employment matters at the core of their business.

Mike concentrates his practice on employment litigation with a focus on prosecuting and defending unfair competition litigation involving large scale raiding, inevitable disclosure of trade secrets, breach of fiduciary duty and non-compete agreements. A nationally recognized litigator, he has extensive courtroom experience, having tried dozens of cases to verdict across the US.

Mike has authored sections in International Labor and Employment Laws (Bloomberg BNA, 2017) as well as Employment and Labour Law (Global Legal Insights, 2018). He is a frequent speaker on employment topics and has been consistently ranked by Chambers USA, The Legal 500 and Super Lawyers.

The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers is a non-profit professional association comprised of the leading lawyers in employment and labor law. Fellows are recognized as distinguished members of the labor and employment community who promote achievement, advancement and excellence in the practice by setting professional standards, by sharing their experience and knowledge and by acting as a resource for academia, the government, the judiciary and the community at large. All Fellows of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers have practiced labor and employment law for at least 20 years.
