McDermott Expands High-Stakes Corporate Litigation Capabilities with the Addition of Prominent Delaware Litigator

Overview

McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce the arrival of experienced litigator, Ashley Robert Altschuler. Ashley’s arrival expands McDermott’s capabilities in Wilmington and equips the firm to meet the growing demand for complex corporate and commercial litigation services in Delaware.

“We’ve had growing demand for great Delaware lawyers and we’re excited to bring on a litigator of Ashley’s caliber to establish and grow our presence in Wilmington. We’re confident that his legal prowess and business savvy are the ideal combination to help our clients navigate disputes under Delaware law,” said Ira Coleman, chairman of McDermott. “Ashley is a top notch attorney who truly could have gone anywhere. We’re happy that he chose to be part of the McDermott family and excited about the contributions he’ll make to our growth in the region.”

Ashley litigates corporate, securities and complex business matters at all levels of state and federal jurisdictions. His practice includes defense of shareholder derivative actions, mergers and acquisitions litigation, complex commercial cases, federal and state securities class actions and arbitrations. He also is experienced in bankruptcy-related litigation as well as internal investigations and counseling boards of directors with respect to corporate governance, business judgment and regulatory issues.

“With the addition of Ashley, we now have a fully integrated McDermott partner to provide Delaware specific counsel in the choice venue for many of our clients,” said David S. Rosenbloom, global head of the firm’s Litigation Practice Group. “His ability to navigate the Delaware Courts, including the Court of Chancery, will be of great value in a jurisdiction that is truly at the geographic center of corporate law.”

“I’m looking forward to joining McDermott’s robust team of litigators and contributing my Delaware knowledge and experience for the benefit of clients across the firm’s platform,” Altschuler said. “A Wilmington presence allows the firm to offer seamless and efficient in-firm representation to clients embroiled in Delaware matters, and I’m excited to be the one putting this offering on the map for McDermott.”

In addition to Delaware, Ashley is licensed and will maintain a presence in New York. His ability to practice both in the center of commercial activity and the center of corporate governance litigation makes him an even more valuable asset to clients facing complex commercial challenges.

Ashley received his JD from Georgetown University Law Center and served as Judicial Clerk to the Honorable E. Norman Veasey, former Chief Justice of the Delaware Supreme Court.
