McDermott Will & Emery, a leading international law firm, announced that Jeffrey M. Reisner has joined the Firm’s Transactions and Restructuring & Insolvency groups as a partner, based in Los Angeles and New York.
Jeff will become co-chair of the Restructuring & Insolvency group. He joins McDermott from Irell & Manella LLP, where he served as the Chair of their bankruptcy practice.
“Jeff is a recognized leader in the restructuring and insolvency arena and his joining McDermott adds tremendous value for our clients,” said Tim Walsh, the co-chair of the Firm’s Restructuring & Insolvency group and a New York-based partner.
“Jeff’s practice focuses on private equity, hedge funds, privately held and public companies and high-net-worth individuals in connection with reorganization of financial affairs and as purchasers, lenders, creditors and creditors’ committees of others in financial distress. His experience in this and other areas adds to our already impressive capabilities,” added Tim.

In the distressed space, Jeff represents formal and informal creditors’ committees, debtors, acquirers of assets, investors, independent directors, boards of directors, trustees, lenders and unsecured creditors in bankruptcy cases and out-of-court restructurings throughout the US. His corporate and litigation work run the entire gamut, including corporate investigations.
Jeff has experience across a wide range of transactions and industries, including defense contractors, automotive and trucking, restaurants and hospitality, convalescent and healthcare, energy, technology, building supply, sporting goods, textiles, lending, distribution, satellites, manufacturing, mortgages, payroll, aerospace, medical testing and devices, entertainment,
communications technology, sporting goods and real estate.
Jeff is also an experienced litigator, having represented clients in both state and federal courts throughout the country. He has litigated complex commercial matters involving claims of lender liability, avoidance action claims, breaches of fiduciary duty, licensing and intellectual property issues and has addressed issues involving contract, corporate, real property, tax, labor and numerous other areas of the law.
