Two McDermott Intellectual Property Partners Selected as “Boston Rising Stars” for 2015

Overview

McDermott Will & Emery intellectual property partners, Kristin Connarn and Leigh Martinson, have been named to the National Law Journal’s 2015 list of “Boston Rising Stars.” This list recognizes 40 Boston-area attorneys who are 40-years-old or younger and “have accomplished big feats in their short legal careers.”

Ms. Connarn, partner in McDermott’s IP Prosecution, Transactions & Strategy Practice Group, was selected as a “Boston Rising Star” based on her work in managing the patent portfolios of several small to mid-size biotechnology companies across Massachusetts. Ms. Connarn was not only recognized for her impressive legal practice, but she was also commended for the amount of time and energy she spends giving back to the community through pro bono service and volunteerism.

Mr. Martinson, partner in McDermott’s Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Group, was chosen as a “Boston Rising Star” for developing and implementing patent litigation and portfolio strategies for a number of Boston-area Fortune 500 and start-up companies. He has played a key role in advising companies in technologies ranging from analog circuitry to computer hardware to wireless communications. Mr. Martinson was also selected based on his dedication to helping those in need through pro bono work and community service.

The “Boston Rising Stars” were chosen by a selection panel that evaluated the honorees on a collection of key measures, which included: “development of the law; advocacy and community contributions; service to the bar; and peer and public recognition.”

The National Law Journal will publish a supplement profiling this year’s “Boston Rising Stars” on November 9, 2015. There will also be an event in Boston to honor those selected for the list on November 12, 2015.
