Global law firm McDermott Will & Emery has created a multi-disciplinary crisis response group and launched a Coronavirus Resource Center designed to provide frequently updated information and education on COVID-19 and its related legal impact on companies and individuals.
The crisis response group comprises partners from various offices across the Firm’s Employment, Health, Tax, Corporate and Regulatory practice groups. Based on client need, various subgroups are providing frequent and timely calls with clients’ senior leadership on strategic and operational issues requiring immediate judgments in light of COVID-19 and assisting clients across all industries to prepare and protect their employees.
“Our lawyers are helping clients navigate these unchartered waters every step of the way. We are truly our clients’ partners in what, for many businesses, is an existential crisis,” said Michael Sheehan, global chair of McDermott’s Employment group.
“In a time of uncertainty, clients are looking for answers – do employers furlough employees; what impact will the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (H.R. 6201) have; how do FMLA and WARN requirements factor in to our decision? Our lawyers have dug into the details of all that is the COVID-19 pandemic and they possess the necessary judgment to provide them with thoughtful and creative solutions to their most challenging legal issues,” Mike added.
The resource center provides FAQs, insights, podcasts, checklists and more to assist clients in navigating issues they are facing in light of Coronavirus. The site features developments and comprehensive insights including:

- Updates to legislation and proposed bills impacting employment law and obligations
- “On the Subject” insights, webinars and live updates on the restructuring, tax, health and regulatory fronts
