McDermott Ranks Second on American Lawyer’s “Global 100’s Pro Bono Commitment” List

Overview

New York (October 13, 2014) – McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce that it has been ranked second among the 100 firms comprising The American Lawyer’s “Global 100 Pro Bono Commitment” list.

This unique ranking assesses law firms by the average number of pro bono hours dedicated per lawyer in international offices. This is the first year that The American Lawyer has included pro bono rankings of the “Global 100” firms, and McDermott is proud to be among those at the top of the inaugural list.

As a leading international law firm, McDermott is committed to pro bono service on a worldwide scale. In 2013, over 47% of McDermott’s 200 non-U.S. attorneys recorded 20 or more pro bono hours, with an average of just over 40 pro bono hours per attorney. Also in 2013, 87 percent, or 956, of McDermott lawyers dedicated 85,000 hours to pro bono and volunteer service worldwide. McDermott’s 2013 pro bono and volunteer service touched over seventy countries and is highlighted in the 2013 Social Responsibility Report, which displays the Firm’s global dedication to pro bono legal work, volunteerism, philanthropy, and the promotion of diversity and environmental stewardship.

McDermott is proud of its pro bono recognition and accomplishments, including its ranking on The American Lawyer’s “Global 100 Pro Bono Commitment” list, but there is more work to be done. The Firm is committed to continuing to provide high-quality legal assistance to those in need both in the U.S. and abroad.
