McDermott Recognized for “Tipping the Scales” Towards Gender Parity in 2023 New Partner Classes

November 9, 2023 – International law firm McDermott Will & Emery is a “Tipping the Scales” recipient in the Diversity & Flexibility Alliance’s 2023 New Partner Report. The Alliance recognizes law firms with 50% or more women in their new partner class globally and/or in the US.

McDermott’s commitment to gender equity and women’s issues dates back to 1957, when we became the second major US law firm to elect a female partner. As a Diversity & Flexibility Alliance Leader Member, we develop policies and initiatives to reinforce the Firm’s longstanding commitment to accepting and understanding gender differences, and to recruiting, retaining and promoting the most talented lawyers and staff regardless of gender.

The Diversity & Flexibility Alliance’s New Partner Report, which is released in full to its members, is a yearly compilation of data from the nation’s largest and top-grossing law firms examining the gender breakdown of lawyers promoted to partnership in their US offices. The data is based upon publicly available firm announcements and other self-reported sources on new partner classes with an effective date of promotion between October 1, 2022, and September 30, 2023.
