McDermott Welcomes Distinguished Fund Formation Lawyer in New York

NEW YORK (March 21, 2017) — McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce the arrival of Ian Schwartz as a partner in the Firm’s Corporate & Transactional Practice Group in the New York office. Mr. Schwartz will be head of the Firm’s Investment Funds Practice with a focus on fund formation and a particular emphasis on the formation of private equity funds.

Mr. Schwartz comes from an AmLaw 100 firm where he counseled private fund clients in the structuring, establishment, and operation of their funds. He also has experience advising funds and their investment advisers on the legal and regulatory compliance aspects of fund formation.

Mr. Schwartz has counseled clients across various industries in an array of investment strategies including buyout, real estate, infrastructure, mezzanine debt, collateral debt obligation, co-investment, and region-specific in Western Europe, India, and Asia. As such, Mr. Schwartz has served as legal counsel in numerous multibillion-dollar and middle-market private investment fund-raisings for institutional and boutique sponsors in various industries around the world.

Mr. Schwartz received his JD from Georgetown University Law Center where he served on The Georgetown Law Journal.
