McDermott Welcomes Experienced Litigator in Dallas

Overview

DALLAS (April 6, 2017) — McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce that Eliot (“Eli”) Burriss has joined the Firm’s Dallas office as a partner in the Litigation Practice Group.

Mr. Burriss was the managing partner in the Dallas office of one of the largest global AmLaw 100 law firms. He is a skilled trial attorney with well over a decade of experience representing national and international companies in both state and federal venues. Mr. Burriss has represented clients throughout a number of government investigations and a variety of antitrust matters. He also has experience representing health care and pharmaceutical companies in complex litigation.

“Eli is a strong addition to our team as we continue providing comprehensive services, including top-notch litigation counsel, to the firm’s health care and pharmaceutical clients,” said David Rosenbloom, global leader of McDermott’s Litigation Practice Group. “Eli’s experience in health care litigation is in great demand, and we are thrilled to be able to rely on his talents to assist our clients both in Dallas and around the world.”

Mr. Burriss will also work closely with McDermott’s employee benefits lawyers on ERISA and other employment litigation matters. The Firm’s Dallas office is home to partners Erin Turley and Allison Wilkerson, both of whom are nationally recognized authorities in advising large publicly traded clients on all areas of ERISA. Mr. Burriss will join forces with them to provide the cross practice litigation aspects of ERISA and other employment litigation offerings that McDermott will now be able to deliver from the Dallas office.

“Eli represents the opportunity to expand our regional capabilities by establishing a commercial litigation presence, with significant health care and antitrust expertise, in Dallas,” said David Guedry, partner-in-charge of McDermott’s Dallas office. “He represents the next generation of talent that we are continuing to recruit as we expand our local offerings as an integral part of McDermott’s global platform.”

Mr. Burriss adds to the hiring momentum that McDermott’s global Litigation Practice Group has experienced throughout the past year. McDermott has welcomed a string of talented litigators to the firm’s East Coast offices with the addition of Rebecca Martin in New York; Kerry Scanlon and Jeremy White in DC; and former Justice of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, Robert Cordy, in Boston. There has also been growth on the West Coast with the addition of litigation partners Michael Morgan in the Los Angeles office and Roy McDonald in the Silicon Valley office.

Mr. Burriss earned his JD from Southern Methodist University School of Law and his BA from Stanford.
