McDermott White-Collar Ace Wins Pro Bono Victory in 1982 Murder Case

Overview

Michael Kendall was featured for a “hard-earned” pro bono victory, leading the defense since 2012 for a Rhode Island man convicted of a 1982 murder; a state court has now overturned the conviction. Matthew Turnell and Kate Dyson spent six weeks this year in court hearings with Mr. Kendall, who said the biggest challenge was working on a case where the evidence was more than three decades old. Evan Panich, Sam Feldman, Karen Eisenstadt and Jennifer Aronoff all contributed substantial time to McDermott’s 6,000 pro bono hours on the case.
