McDermott Will & Emery & ABI-LAB Team Up to Support the Growth of Life Science Start-Ups in Greater Boston
McDermott Will & Emery and ABI-LAB today announced a partnership to support the growth of life sciences start-ups in the MetroWest region of Massachusetts.
Through this unique relationship, lawyers from McDermott’s noted Life Sciences team will hold office hours at ABI-LAB’s new MetroWest facility. During these hours, lawyers will provide the bio-incubator’s tenant companies with informal guidance and strategic advice on healthcare and intellectual property, transactions, the Food and Drug Administration, reimbursement and other topics.
McDermott will also co-host lunch-and-learn sessions at ABI-LAB on hot legal topics impacting startups in the industry.
“ABI-LAB is creating an environment that will help foster tremendous growth and innovation in the life sciences sector,” said Kristian Werling, co-chair of McDermott’s Life Sciences Practice. “As a leader in the life sciences arena, our firm is excited to partner with ABI-LAB, while providing ABI-LAB’s start-up clients with the benefit of our experience and specialized knowledge.”
“Move in today, start your science tomorrow,” said Gary Kaufman, Chief Operating Officer for ABI-LAB. “Great research takes time, and ABI-LAB is proud to offer a space for as long as the companies need to develop their science and make their impact on the life sciences sector. We look forward to partnering with McDermott’s experienced Life Sciences team to help our tenant companies grow and accomplish their mission.”
McDermott’s global Life Sciences team fuels the mission of life sciences companies, leveraging a purpose-built and dedicated group of lawyers with demonstrated strengths across intellectual property, regulatory, transactional, employment and litigation law.
