CHICAGO (May 13, 2015) — McDermott Will & Emery Trial Partner Elizabeth Herrington was elected Second Vice President of the Seventh Circuit Bar Association following the group’s annual meeting in Milwaukee last week.

Following her tenure as Second Vice President, Herrington will serve a one-year term as President of the Association, beginning in 2017. Herrington previously served as the Association’s Secretary and Co-chair of the 2014 meeting.

“Beth is a great leader,” said Lazar Raynal, head of the Trial Practice Group at McDermott. “She will bring her strong communication skills to this job.”

A nationally-known trial lawyer, Herrington focuses her practice on national, complex corporate and commercial litigation. She has represented many U.S. and international companies in significant, high-profile commercial and class action lawsuits, primarily involving fraud, contract claims, tax, trade secret theft, non-compete issues and insurance disputes.

Herrington is also a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel, the American Bar Association and the Chicago Inn of Court.

“Beth will bring energy, enthusiasm and a high degree of professionalism to the Association,” said Michael Pope, McDermott Partner and past President of the Seventh Circuit Bar Association. “She can work well with the federal judges and the lawyers throughout the circuit.”

The Seventh Circuit Bar Association is the official liaison between the bar and the federal judges in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin, created to assist the Courts of the Circuit in the improvement of the administration of justice.

As president, Herrington will serve as the principal executive officer of the Association and chairwoman of the Board of Governors. She will direct the business and affairs of the Association and preside at all meetings of the Members and of the Board of Governors.
