CHICAGO (March 27, 2017) — McDermott Will & Emery is excited to announce that its Chicago office has officially relocated to the new River Point tower at 444 West Lake Street.
The Firm’s new office is centrally situated at the bend of the Chicago River in the city’s vibrant West Loop. The structure offers world-class architecture, spectacular views, and is pre-certified LEED-Gold for energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.
“McDermott is taking a bold step into the future with the move to River Point,” said Firm Chair, Ira J. Coleman. “The office relocation reflects the Firm’s forward-thinking approach as we continue to become ever-more indispensable to our clients and provide a great, happy place to work for our people. While our address has changed, our core values have not.”
The Firm’s new offices were designed to provide an improved atmosphere complete with ergonomic work space. Clear glass office walls allow for an airy and bright work environment filled with natural light. “We hope to inspire our people to work even more collaboratively in this new engaging and efficient environment,” notes Lydia Kelley, partner-in-charge of the Firm’s Chicago Office. “Bringing colleagues together in a variety of settings in the office will provide a platform for new ideas and creative solutions for our clients.” A distinctive feature in the space is an innovative community center known as “The Commons.” The Commons is designed to encourage serendipitous encounters and increase interaction among colleagues. It is outfitted with high-end food and beverage options, plentiful seating, and technology that make it easy for people to come together and collaborate in the space.
McDermott occupies approximately 201,000 square feet of modern office space at River Point, which reflects a significant reduction in the size of the Firm’s Chicago office physical footprint with a renewed focus on smart design and efficiency. “We want to create the best possible space so that we can deliver excellence to our clients and create an atmosphere that energizes and supports our people,” said Chicago partner and former chairman Jeffrey Stone. “Chicago has always been a city characterized by brilliant architecture. Our new building and our new space within it carry on that tradition. Having a physical space that empowers a culture where our people come to work excited every day translates into a real benefit for our clients around the world,” added Stone.
The new space features a two-story reception lobby with unparalleled views of the city and an internal staircase leading to the second floor conference space. The modern conference space boasts state-of-the-art technology for both employees and visitors alike. Offices also feature adjustable stand-up desks, allowing people to work more efficiently and ergonomically.
The new location is in close proximity to West Loop trains, buses, parking and the expressway, providing easy access for our lawyers, staff, and clients. River Point also provides several options for those who bike to work, offering both indoor and outdoor bike parking and a future Divvy bike stand.
