London – London based Transactions partner Lisa O’Neill has been chosen by Law360 as a 2018 “MVP of the Year” in the Mergers & Acquisitions category. Lisa’s selection is part of a Law360 “Most Valuable Player” series profiling top lawyers who have secured ‘hard-earned successes in complex global matters and record-breaking deals’. Lisa was the only female selected in the Mergers & Acquisitions category.
Lisa’s notable achievement of 2018 has been advising Praxair, Inc on the global divestment of assets required for the consummation of the $90 billion Praxair-Linde merger. Lisa advised on the €5 billion ($5.85 billion) divestment of the majority of Praxair’s businesses in Europe to Taiyo Nippon Sanso Corporation, a company listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange and majority owned by Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Corporation. She also advised on the $3.3 billion divestment of North American and South American assets by Praxair, Inc. and Linde AG to Messer and CVC Capital Partners Fund VII. Lisa led a global team comprising over 100 McDermott lawyers, together with local law firms in nine jurisdictions.
This year, Lisa and her team have also been shortlisted for Legal Week’s British Legal Awards in the ‘M&A Team of the Year (Large Deal)’ category. In 2017, Lisa received the Lexology Client Choice Award in Excellence in Service. In 2016, Lisa was recognized in The Lawyer Hot 100 annual listing of top lawyers in the UK. In 2016, Lisa was also named among the Financial News “Rising Stars in Legal Services: 40 Under 40.”
