MWE China Recognized For Helping Clients Overcome Complex Regulatory Challenges

Overview

MWE China Law Offices (MWE China) has been recognized as the inaugural “Data Protection & Privacy PRC Firm of the Year” at the China Business Law Awards 2019. In addition, the Firm celebrated its fourth consecutive year as a winner in the Anti-bribery & Compliance category.

“We are delighted to receive these prestigious awards in recognition of the work our lawyers are doing to help Chinese companies and multinational corporations navigate the complex regulatory matters,” said John Huang, founder and managing partner of MWE China. He added: “To win the title of Data Protection & Privacy PRC Firm of the Year and gain the Anti-Bribery & Compliance award for four consecutive years is an outstanding achievement and a great reflection of our team’s continued success.”

Founded in 2007, MWE China in Shanghai has a strategic alliance with McDermott Will & Emery, and represent prominent Chinese and Fortune 500 companies in compliance matters ranging from employment relations and white-collar crime to multi-jurisdictional United States Foreign Corrupt Practice Act investigations.

China Business Law Journal noted how active the team has been in cybersecurity space over the last year, highlighting multiple forums organized for client and prospects on data protection and compliance. The Journal also noted improvements to service capability with the addition of partner and head of the data advisory practice group, Carol Sun.

Commenting on the accolades, Equity Partner of MWE China, Leon Liu said: “I am incredibly proud of the team. We invest deeply in every case and work passionately in pursuit of our clients’ objectives, so we are thrilled to see our collective efforts being recognized. We aim to exceed client’s expectations in all that we do, but what really sets us apart is our comprehensive and dynamic professional legal services across our international platform. Our dedicated team of lawyers have the local know-how and deep relationships locally and globally, to deliver value-added service to our clients.”

The Firm counsels clients in all key areas of law, including antitrust and competition, capital markets, corporate (including mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures), labor and employment, intellectual property, litigation and arbitration, real estate, regulatory compliance, tax, venture capital and private equity.

China Business Law Journal announced finalists for the China Business Law Awards in the March 2019 edition of the publication. The Awards are based on hundreds of nominations received from China-focused corporate counsel and legal professionals around the world. The winners were selected based on a combination of factors, including each firm’s landmark deals, cases and other notable achievements over the past 12 months.
