McDermott Will & Emery Launches Tax in the City® Resource Page

Overview

CHICAGO — International law firm McDermott Will & Emeryhas launched its resource page for Tax in the City®, an innovative forum for women tax professionals to connect and share ideas. The resource page will serve as a centralized platform for upcoming events, substantive materials from previous meetings and additional tax-related resources.

Tax in the City®is a McDermott-founded initiative that provides a forum for women tax professionals to discuss technical tax issues in a collegial and confidential setting through roundtable study group events hosted regularly in cities around the country. Established by a group of female partners, Tax in the City® includes women tax professionals at every step of their careers and offers them an opportunity to learn from one another and build deep social and professional relationships.

“The Tax in the City® initiative focuses on the advancement of women through technical skill development, substantive discussion and meaningful networking,” said Jane May, head of the Firm’s State & Local Tax Practice and co-founder of Tax in the City®. “The new resource page memorializes some of our amazing programming and is a great way for participants to stay up-to-date on future and past events and continue learning well beyond the in-person gatherings.”

The next event will be Tax in the City®: A Women’s Tax Roundtable on May 22, 2018 at Amazon’s Doppler Building in Seattle. The program will begin with a CLE/CPE session and continue with a study group over lunch with a discussion of:

  • South Dakota v. Wayfair, Inc.;
  • the EU proposal to tax income from digital commerce;
  • interaction of cross-border tax reform provisions;
  • the impact of tax reform on compensation structures and fringe benefits.

All tax professionals who identify as women are welcome.
