Catherine Battin secured a ruling from the Illinois Supreme Court upholding the rejection of more than $600,000 in attorneys’ fees in a False Claims Act suit involving a pillow manufacturer, which is “thrilled” with the result. “The court relied on case law inHamerand some other cases holding that a pro se litigant can’t recover on behalf of themselves,” Ms. Battin said. “The record was clear the attorney and the relator were one and the same.”
