Joanne Ludovici discussed the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences infringement litigation to halt the sale of fake “Oscar” statutes, saying of the Academy that “they have a duty to protect their trademark. If you want to protect the value of that, you’re going to have to do it through enforcement.” She added, however, that the Academy typically goes after larger infringers first: “You want people to know you’re enforcing, but you don’t want to go so nuts that you alienate your consumer base.” Read the full article
