Overview

Bernard Codd, in response to problems supervising patent examiners who work from home, suggested that supervisors could also begin monitoring the computer usage of such examiners to ensure that they are actively engaged and added that “the higher-up management has to give supervisors more support so they can take action against examiners who don’t appear to be working.” Mr. Codd noted that issues with examiner time have existed for years, saying that “it’s not a problem that’s unique to the work-at-home program, but it might be easier to address the problem when people are not working from home.”
