Private Equity’s Safe Haven

Robert Goldstein discussed consumer staples companies that provide food and beverages as safe havens for private equity investors. “Consumer staples are never going away” and are largely recession-proof, Mr. Goldstein explained. “They’re good cash-flow businesses that may not have huge increases in earnings, but are unlikely to have significant decreases. There’s a need for consumer staples here and abroad.”
