Todd Solomon, chair of the firm-wide pro bono committee, said of McDermott’s selection as a Pro Bono Firm of 2015 that “it is strongly encouraged at all levels, and in some ways expected that as part of the McDermott family, you contribute not only to the firm but to society.” Pro bono lawyers and successes singled out include Melissa Nott Davis and Natalie A. Bennett (representing a US Park Police detective in a pregnancy discrimination case), Jon Dean (defending a Mexican citizen against deportation), and Michael Kendall (persuading a state judge to vacate a 20-year old murder conviction).
