Prolonged Shutdown Likely to Affect Audit Regulator’s Functions

Thomas Conaghan commented on what effect a prolonged government shutdown will have on audit regulators. Self-Regulatory Organization and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board “are private organizations, and they are not subject to government funding. But they are not [currently] being overseen by the SEC even though the SEC has a statutory mandate to do so,” said Conaghan.
