Provider-Based Rules Trigger 2nd Hospital Settlement; CMS Targets Shared Space

Tony Maida, commenting on a hospital’s settlement of a case over alleged violations of CMS provider-based regulations, noted that “the provider-based rule is pretty detailed and people can lose track of their compliance.” Mr. Maida continued that “providers under CIAs [corporate integrity agreements] need to disclose problems to OIG in the course of monitoring, and that turns into a potential settlement.”
