Amol Parikh, who with Paul Devinsky is representing toolmaker Snap-On Inc. in a dispute over tool battery pack patents, urged the Federal Circuit to overturn a Patent Trial and Appeal Board ruling which upheld the patents’ validity. The PTAB’s “legally erroneous claim construction” regarding electrical discharge of the batteries was a major factor in an unfavorable 2017 jury verdict in a Wisconsin federal court lawsuit over the patents.
