London (May 17, 2017) – International Law Firm, McDermott Will & Emery’s London Private Client team achieves two further accolades, awarded at ceremonies in the City of London.
McDermott’s London Private Client team has been recognized by the “Magic Circle” Awards 2017, winning the prestigious “International Law Firm of the Year – USA 2017.” The award was presented at the annual Citywealth Magic Circle Awards held in London last week. The Awards, now in their twelfth year, recognize the best wealth managers and advisors in the global private wealth industry. A total of 39 companies and individuals have been selected for their performance, by more than 12,000 public votes and 10 industry judges. Partners, Ziva Robertson and Simon Goldring accepted the Magic Circle award on behalf of the London Private Client team.
In addition, the London Private Client team has also been recognized by Legal Business, receiving a ‘Highly Commended’ Private Client Team of the Year Award at the annual awards in London, a gala which was attended by representatives from major FTSE 100 companies. The leading firms were selected by an external judging panel comprised of a number of senior GCs from across a range of industries. McDermott was commended for its work on a standout matter acting for the beneficiary of a series of trusts in a breach of trust claim against a Bahamian trustee. The case involved the beneficiary and other family members seeking disclosure of their personal data under the Data Protection Act.

The Magic Circle Awards are held annually in Spring to find the best advisors and managers in the global industry. Entries can either be by nomination from the global industry or companies can also send in detailed submissions. All entries for each category are then shortlisted as finalists by a judging panel featuring ten global industry experts. All voting is done online, which opens once the finalists have been announced.
