Robert Cordy Awarded the “James D. Kaufman International Citizens Award” by WorldBoston

Overview

McDermott Will & Emery is proud to announce that Robert (Bob) Cordy, a Boston-based partner, has been awarded the 21st James D. Kaufman International Citizens Award by the nonprofit WorldBoston, for his impact on fostering engagement and cooperation that has shaped international affairs.

Now a leading litigator, Bob spent 16 years serving as an associate justice of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, where he developed opportunities to work with judiciaries from around the world, and gained a deep understanding of the importance of international engagement. Since returning to private practice, he has provided invaluable support to McDermott clients with his extensive knowledge of the global legal and judicial landscape.

“McDermott is incredibly lucky to have someone as passionate and well-rounded as Bob on our team,” said Tony Bongiorno, office-managing partner of the Boston office. “He is one of the most respected members of our legal community and consistently goes above and beyond to create opportunities to better service his clients and the people of Boston and beyond. Bob proves time and time again that he truly is a global citizen and continues to foster engagement worldwide.”

Over the last 10 years, Bob has worked with WorldBoston to host international delegations of visitors sponsored by the US Department of State through its International Visitor Leadership Program in Boston and other cities around the US. Bob has facilitated meetings with judges, bar associations and journalists interested in the US legal system. In this capacity, he has supported over 30 such delegation visits from all corners of the globe, including Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Brazil, Taiwan, South Africa, Algeria, and many others.

Bob has also co-hosted WorldBoston’s “Chat and Chowder” author series, since 2016, that brings in reputable authors who have recently published works on international and rule of law subjects. The series is hosted at McDermott’s Boston office.

The International Citizen Award will be presented on Wednesday, October 30, prior to the 10th Annual Consuls Reception at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.
