Sabine Konrad, as co-organizer of this year’s Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot, said that the use of a real life case involving a counterfeiting scam related to Portugal’s currency aims “to give the students a realistic experience of an investment arbitration. The fact that we use real historic events rather than textbook cases helps, as they reflect the complexity and colour of real life. It is a nice side-effect that the students will learn about the history of international law and the world economy.” McDermott’s Washington office is hosting a related pre-moot.
