Gary Emmanuel called the SEC’s approval of the Inline XBRL format for making financial finings in its EDGAR database an “important step forward in the evolution of XBRL.” Mr. Emmanuel explained that “Inline XBRL allows the XBRL generation process to be conducted at the same time as conversion of the Word document into EDGAR format thereby streamlining the entire process.” He said this “welcome change … should be embraced by industry stakeholders.”
