Senate Tax Reform Bill Keeps Partial SALT Deduction

Peter Faber wrote regarding the state and local tax deduction provisions in the new tax bill that “an issue has been raised as to whether state and local income taxes paid on business income could be deducted as business expenses by self-employed persons and not as itemized deductions, in which case they would not be affected by the repeal” of the deduction.
