Sarah Walters expressed the opinion that the defense team for pharmaceutical executive Martin Shkreli, convicted of and sentenced for fraud, “did an excellent job defending the case and also did an excellent job of humanizing Shkreli in the context of the sentencing hearing … [His] seven year sentence is significantly lower than what the Sentencing Guidelines called for and what the prosecution sought.”
