Sarah Walters, as a former federal prosecutor, suggested regarding the fraud conviction sentencing of former pharmaceutical executive Martin Shkreli that the judge’s recent rulings and Shkreli’s responses make it unlikely that he will receive a sentence of less than 18 months. Because Shkreli is not a sympathetic figure, “I think the government’s recommendation is much more in the ballpark of where she’s going to end up on this,” Ms. Walters said.
