Significant Hurdles Remain in Wake of Student Loan Ruling


Jeffrey Holdvogt said that the biggest hurdle for a tax-qualified retirement plan offering a student loan program concerns the nondiscrimination requirements. “The employer has to show that the availability of the benefit and the amount of the benefit being provided doesn’t disproportionately favor highly compensated employees,” he said. “Depending on the demographics of the employee population, that could be difficult.”
