Stephen Kranz told a Federation of Tax Administrators panel that state tax systems continue to be stretched by trying to accommodate ongoing technological advances. “People are buying things that they have always been buying,” such as lodging and transportation, Mr. Kranz said, “but they are buying in a new way now.”
