Todd Solomon said that the Supreme Court’s refusal to consider appellate court rejections of same-sex marriage bans in five states “is not the huge win gay rights activists were hoping for but it does help the cause in [those] five states.” Mr. Solomon added that employers are still left with “a patchwork of laws in the states,” which means they will continue to “go state by state to determine their legal obligations and how to tax medical, dental, and vision benefits offered to their employees.”
