Stephen Kranz said that a Tennessee Department of Revenue ruling that treated cloud-based software services as telecom services subject to sales tax could have the effect of “clarifying the crossroads of cloud-based communication tools and tools that are intended to provide consumers with other services. Much guidance has been issued recently around the country dealing with the overlap between the areas.”
