Overview

CHICAGO (August 1, 2017) – International law firm McDermott Will & Emery is delighted to announce that Terrence (Terry) J. Dee, partner in its Trial practice, has been appointed the 36th Board President of the Chicago Bar Foundation (CBF) for the 2017-2018 term.

Terry focuses his practice on product liability, class action, trade secrets, and other complex litigation. He has tried cases in federal and state courts throughout the country, including Illinois, Ohio, Washington, DC, Maryland, Arizona and Missouri, and has handled numerous commercial arbitrations.

Terry has served on the Chicago Bar Foundation (CBF) board since 2011 where he has particularly played a lead role in the CBF’s development efforts, and also serves on the board of the national Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law.

“We would like to wholeheartedly congratulate Terry on this appointment,” said David Rosenbloom, global head of McDermott’s Litigation Practice Group. “In this role, Terry demonstrates his commitment to equal justice and ensuring legal services for all and also his outstanding leadership in the Chicago legal community. He is a prime example of talent we nurture here at McDermott.”

McDermott has a long history of involvement with the CBF. The Firm’s co-founder, Edward H. McDermott, was one of the three lawyers who signed the articles of incorporation forming the CBF in 1948. He was also one of the members of the original board of directors, and then the second president of the CBF Board.

As the charitable arm of the CBA, The Chicago Bar Foundation brings the legal community together to improve access to justice for people in need and make the legal system more fair and efficient for everyone. Thousands of individual lawyers and other dedicated individuals, more than 200 law firms and companies, and many other committed partners make the CBF’s work possible.
