McDermott was praised by Charles Francis of the Mattachine Society for the Firm’s work as pro bono counsel helping the Society document decades of systematic anti-gay discrimination by the federal government and using that information to prepare a Supreme Court amicus brief in a case that will decide the constitutionality of state laws banning same-sex marriage.
