Mark Pearlstein, interviewed on Canada’s largest private broadcast network, said he was “surprised” that a jury imposed the death penalty on Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. “I thought it was an exceptionally well-tried case but I also thought that because of the state’s [Massachusetts] predilection to be opposed to the death penalty we would see at least one juror refuse to impose capital punishment,” Mr. Pearlstein said, adding that the short duration of the jury deliberations “was a very, very bad sign for the defense.” Read the full article
