Martina Maier predicted that the European Commission’s approval of construction for a new UK nuclear power plant “will set the road map for similar investments in Europe. In the absence of state aid guidelines, the guidance for similar future projects will come from this decision. The commission had a chance here to say it wanted a very strict approach on the public financing of investments into nuclear power and it chose not to do so.”
