Stephen Ryan said that when his client, a University of Texas Regent, raised and investigated the issue of whether student applicants whom legislators pushed for admission were accepted at a much higher rate than normal, “Thermonuclear destruction was visited on him” in a threatened impeachment proceeding. Mr. Ryan added that his client has behaved lawfully at all times.
