Virginia Governor Appoints McDermott’s Eugene Goldman to the Board of Professional and Occupational Regulation

WASHINGTON, DC (June 29, 2015) – Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe has appointed Eugene Goldman, a partner in McDermott Will & Emery’s White-Collar and Securities Defense Practice Group, to the Board of the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (“DPOR”).

DPOR is an executive branch agency under the Secretary of Commerce and Trade that oversees 18 regulatory boards and programs. The DPOR is responsible for regulating numerous licensed professions and occupations. DPOR promotes job creation by helping qualified people become licensed in their field, and also protects the public by investigating complaints and ensuring that regulated professionals are compliant with state law and regulation. The DPOR Board monitors the policies and activities of the DPOR.

Mr. Goldman, formerly Senior Counsel, Division of Enforcement of the Securities and Exchange Commission, represents domestic and international clients before the SEC in financial fraud, auditor misconduct, false disclosure, insider trading and other securities enforcement proceedings. He also represents audit committees in internal investigations.

Mr. Goldman is a member of the Capital Markets Litigation Advisory Committee of the U.S. Chamber Litigation Center. Mr. Goldman is repeatedly named one of the Best Lawyers in America for securities litigation and regulation.
