Jana Grieb said a decision in Germany that a statutory insurance provider should provide reimbursement for a vision therapy app prescribed by ophthalmologists may spur more eHealth applications to push for reimbursement. “As developments in the legal area, especially with regard to the reimbursement by statutory health insurances, occur in a highly regulated environment, they usually take their time,” Ms Grieb explained. “However, once the first few decisions are taken, they often pave the road for further developments, so I see a very good chance for further reimbursement of medical apps in the future.” Read the full article
