Todd Solomon asserted that the Supreme Court’s ruling in support of same-sex marriage means “there is simply one type of spouse” for health benefit coverage. He added, however that self-insured companies are not under under the same legal constraints to offer full coverage. “There is technically no legal requirement that a self-insured company has to include a same-sex spouse,” Mr. Solomon noted, adding that this could produce “a lot of litigation.” Read the full article
