Charles Buck predicted that the latest Medicare reauthorization act (MACRA), with its emphasis on advanced alternative payment models (APMs), will accelerate physician consolidation. “If you want to get into the advanced APM world, the competitive advantage is going to be with larger groups, or system-affiliated groups that have the capital, the infrastructure and the expertise to not just survive, but thrive under this new environment,” Mr. Buck explained.
